Kung Fu Kenobi’s Big Adventure

Ben Kenobi feels a great disturbance in the Force: Luke Skywalker and Han Solo have been captured by Jabba the Hutt. En route to rescue them, Kenobi must face a flatulent Yoda, Lobot’s bad breath, and an irate Mace Windu.

Completed in early-1999 (at the height of buildup to Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace) Kung Fu Kenobi’s Big Adventure is the third in Evan Mather’s series of animated shorts that mashup Star Wars mythology with contemporary pop culture. Acknowledged in mainstream media publications including The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly, Kung Ku Kenobi’s Big Adventure screened at the 1999 International Film Festival Rotterdam. The seven-minute digital short was animated using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere running on a Power Macintosh G3/266.

Everybody has a favorite Star Wars scene … mine’s the one where Mace Windu stands up in the Jedi council and quotes Ezekiel 25:17 … “You will know my name is the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee!” … then whips out a gun and busts a cap into Yoda.
